Appeared on Broadway with Bernadette Peters in the revival of Annie Get Your Gun.
Like his character Luke Duke, he spent time living on a farm. He grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm with his six brothers and sisters but no cousins or uncles.
Beat out Dennis Quaid and Gerald McRaney for the role of Luke Duke on "The Dukes of Hazzard" (1979).
Once hosted his own show on TNN/The Nashville Network).
