Dr. Drew Pinsky, the Celebrity Rehab therapist, has reportedly apologized after questioning Tom Cruise's mental health.

On the reality TV show, Pinsky treats celebrities with drug addictions such as Brigitte Nelson and had questioned why Tom had been "drawn into a cultish kind of environment like Scientology" while being interviewed for the July issue of Playboy. He added:

"To me, that's a function of a very deep emptiness and suggests serious neglect in childhood - maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect."

Pinsky, also hosts the syndicated radio show Loveline, has since apologized through his rep.  The statement read:

"Dr Drew meant no harm to Mr Cruise and apologizes if his  were hurtful."

However, Bert Fields, Tom's attorney called him a "posturing flake." He told the New York Post:

"This unqualified television performer, who is obviously just looking for notoriety, is so grotesquely unprofessional as to pretend to diagnose Tom and others without ever meeting them. He seems to be spewing the absurdity that all Scientologists are mentally ill. The last time we heard garbage like this was from Joseph Goebbels."

Pinsky's rep responded to the  said that Dr. Drew "meant no harm" insisting:

"Although Mr Fields' intent is clearly to slander and discredit Dr Drew, under no circumstances is Dr Drew making a blanket diagnosis about Scientology nor Mr Cruise whom he does not know. Dr Drew was simply using Mr Cruise as an example of someone who is recognizable to help the public understand."

Uh-oh, Dr. Drew better watch out - it sounds like this isn't the end of it yet.  Tommy might be so upset to try to get him off the air.  Even if some or many think Tom's a little nutty, I'm sure he especially doesn't want to hear it from psychiatrists or therapists.
