Steve Martin and the cast of 'The Pink Panther 2' hit the "pink" carpet this week to premiere their hilarious sequel, in theaters Friday, and the stars were happy to give credit where credit was due. "[Inspector Clouseau is] such an enduring character that [we] thought, okay, we can do this without embarrassment, and I think we got away with it," says Martin. "Elements of the character are completely created by Peter Sellers, which I am adapting to myself, but I give him complete, full credit for the creation of the character." "I'm very nostalgic about 'The Pink Panther' because I grew up with it as a kid, and Peter Sellers was a particular person that I enjoyed so much as a child," says co-star Andy Garcia of the film franchise and its original star. "For me it was a hoot to actually take part of it." In 'The Pink Panther 2,' Clouseau is on the case when legendary treasures from around the globe are stolen, including the Pink Panther diamond. Taking the action to Paris and Rome, Clouseau must join up with a "dream team" of detectives from other countries to catch the elusive thief. Jean Reno. John Cleese, Alfred Molina, Lily Tomlin and Emily Mortimer also star. "It's just excellent doing bad French accents and getting to hang out in Paris with Steve Martin and all these amazing actors," enthuses Mortimer.
