Sean's father was an engineer for DuPont. His mother, Cheryl, was a financial analyst also for DuPont. Originally went to the University of Virginia to study to be a lawyer. A chance audition for a part in "A Raisin In the Sun" changed his direction. He ultimately got his master's degree in drama from New York University in 1996. Graduated from Brandywine High School, Wilmington, Delaware. Both of his parents are from Guyana. Married Aonika Laurent in New Orleans on April 22, 2006. Originally planned for the Fall of 2005 in New Orleans, but postponed due to Hurricane Katrina. Sean and Aonika were married in New Orleans, having postponed their nuptials after Hurrican Katrina.
