The attacker -- a self-described "comic" named Jonathan May-Bowles -- pled guilty in a Westminster courtroom ... and is scheduled to be sentenced on August 2.

Murdoch Thanks Wife For Slapping Pie Attacker
Filed under: Rupert Murdoch, Wendi Deng Rupert Murdoch's wife -- the lady who smacked the HOLY CRAP out of the man who tried to hit her hubby with a pie -- says her efforts didn't go unappreciated ... because Rupert has since THANKED her for the slap heard 'round the world. Wendi Deng was hanging out in her hotel in NYC yesterday -- when photogs asked, "What did Rupert think [about the attack]?"
With a great big smile on her face, Wendi replied, "He thanked me for it."
You're damn right he did ... nobody messes with The Deng.

Rupert Murdoch -- Accosted By Protester At Parliament
Filed under: Rupert Murdoch, Jonathan May-Bowles 80-year-old Rupert Murdoch was nearly PIED IN THE FACE during his hearing at Parliament today -- but the assailant actually got nailed, thanks to Mr. Murdoch's wife.Look closely at the video (below) ... you see the assailant on the left of the screen. He then prepares to hurl the pie -- which appears to be some sort of white foam in a foil pie dish. Murdoch's wife, Wendi Deng (pink jacket) ... hurls her body toward the man to block the attack.
The assailant -- real name Jonathan May-Bowles -- ended up getting the brunt of it.
Murdoch was in Parliament to testify about the News of the World scandal.

Murdoch Assailant Warned Thousands Before Attack
Filed under: Jonathan May-Bowles, Celebrity Justice, Rupert Murdoch, Twitter The man who attempted to pie Rupert Murdoch in Parliament warned thousands of people before his attack -- posting a cryptic message to his Twitter account just minutes before it went down.While sitting inside Parliament, Jonathan May-Bowles -- aka Jonnie Marbles -- wrote, "It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat." (So, in addition to pie terrorism, he's a Dickens fan)
And that was just the latest message ... before the final send-off, May-Bowles -- whose Twitter account has nearly 10,000 followers -- repeatedly mocked Murdoch from inside Parliament, writing, "Rupert Murdoch appears to be going senile #hackgate."
He continued, "I'm actually in this committee and can confirm: Murdoch is Mr. Burns."
May-Bowles -- who posted the following politically-charged video to his YouTube account last year -- is currently being detained by British police.
