Rupert Everett has reportedly dismissed Jodie Foster's 'coming out' as insignificant, claiming it won't have an impact on Hollywood since she's too old now.

As reported earlier, Jodie acknowledged her life partner, producer Cydney Bernard, during her acceptance speech for an award.  However, Rupert insists that Foster has done little to encourage secretly gay stars to come out into the open, explaining:

"She is 45 and just couldn't be bothered anymore. After a certain age you can be gay in Hollywood. Before that, it's not only not good, it's impossible".

Was it necessary to rain on her parade? I think it has taken Jodie Foster so long to do it because she's such a private person.  I know he has a point in that it's probably more acceptable for her now to have come out as a lesbian given that she's older, but hey, everyone has to decide when they're ready.  Jodie probably didn't come out to help or encourage people to be more open about their personal lives in Hollywood anyway.
