Funnyman Robin Williams was given just two weeks to live before his heart surgery. The 57-year-old actor revealed to David Letterman on his late night show that the surgery has extended his life.

Williams had to postpone his "Weapons of Self-Destruction" one-man comedy tour in March after doctors advised him to undergo surgery to replace an aortic valve replacement.
Back in action after being sidelined for heart surgery, 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian ' star Robin Williams was in fine form at the film's premiere at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C., joking about his new lease on life! "Eight weeks ago when I came out of surgery I said, 'You know what I'm looking forward to? Smithsonian,'" he jokes. "It's good to be here." Co-stars Owen Wilson, Amy Adams and Hank Azaria had kind words to say about Robin being back on his feet and attending the premiere, as did Ben Stiller, who said, "He's an amazing guy and I'm very happy that he's here. I don't think anything can really keep him down." In 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,' Robin and Owen return as Teddy Roosevelt and cowboy Jedediah opposite Ben's nervous night watchman, who has the difficult task of keeping the museum exhibits in line when they come to life at night. This time, the action moves to the Smithsonian, where new characters from history -- including Amy as lost aviatrix Amelia Earhart, Hank as the villainous Egyptian pharaoh Kahmunrah, Christopher Guest as Russian tyrant Ivan the Terrible, Alain Chabat as Napoleon -- and even Darth Vader -- create chaos once the sun sets. "When I walk in here I feel like I'm five; you look around and see so much history," says Robin about the immense museum. "There are so many exhibits in here that I can spend two days just walking around." The 'Battle' begins in conventional theaters and IMAX everywhere May 22.

NEW YORK (AP) — Robin Williams, who had heart surgery eight weeks ago, says he and David Letterman "are now brotherhood of the zipper chests."


Robin Williams joked he now has a "cow valve" in his heart after undergoing surgery. The comic star laughed his way through his first public appearance since undergoing heart surgery two months ago, on TV program "The Late Show with David Letterman."

Speaking to the host, Robin said: "I have one new valve and a repaired valve. I have a cow valve, which is great, and the grazing has been fun - and I give a good quart of cream, too, my friend."
Robin Williams is recovering well after having heart surgery. The comedian underwent a three-and-a-half hour operation at Ohio's Cleveland Clinic on March 13 and is now resting.

Staff cardiothoracic surgeon A. Marc Gillinov, M.D. said: "Mr. Williams' operation went extremely well, and we expect him to make a full recovery. The surgery was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve and correct his irregular heartbeat. A couple hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us all laugh."

Actor Robin Williams, 57, has canceled several performances in Florida of his critically acclaimed one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," after recently experiencing shortness of breath, according to a statement released by his representative. Williams has been on the Broadway-bound 80-city tour since September and has played shows in 11 cities over the past three weeks.
Robin Williams is to undergo heart surgery. The comedian was admitted to a south Florida hospital - believed to be University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in south Miami - after experiencing shortness of breath this week and his representative has now confirmed he will need an operation to correct his condition.

The representative said: "Robin is to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement."
