Robert Wagner -- Going Public After Natalie Wood Death Investigation Re-opened
Wed, 14 Dec 2011 03:03:16 | Rate news: +0
Filed under: Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, Celebrity Justice, Paparazzi Video

For the first time since cops reopened the Natalie Wood case as a homicide investigation -- the dead actress' former husband Robert Wagner showed his face in public.

Wagner remained tight-lipped on his way into the Lyric Theater in Florida moments ago -- where the actor is set to give a Q&A on his life tonight.

Wagner's not officially a suspect in the investigation -- but there's been widespread speculation that investigators are looking into the possibility that he was responsible for Wood's death back in 1981.

Natalie Wood Investigation -- Expert Says Captain's Polygraph May Be Worthless
Thu, 24 Nov 2011 03:11:38 | Rate news: +0
Filed under: Dennis Davern, Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, Celebrity Justice

Captain Dennis Davern passed a lie detector test on the details he remembers about Natalie Wood's death -- only problem is ... Davern was wasted the night she died ... so the results may be worthless.

Davern reportedly took the polygraph exam back in 2008 to prove he was telling the truth about his recollections the night Wood died -- specifically, that Robert Wagner allegedly told him not to call the Coast Guard and to cover up what really happened on the boat.

Famed polygraph expert Dr. Edward Gelb tells TMZ ... Davern's "passing" only means he is being truthful about what he remembers -- "If you believed something occurred, you would run truthful. It doesn't mean it happened ... it means the subject believes it happened."

What Davern believes and what really happened may be 2 different stories ... because he admitted (below) he was drinking heavily -- scotch and wine -- the night Natalie drowned.

By the way, even if someone is charged with Natalie's death ... the polygraph results would not be admissible in the trial, although it's highly unlikely this case would ever end up in court.

Robert Wagner -- I'm A Murder Suspect ... On Tv
Tue, 22 Nov 2011 18:10:04 | Rate news: +0
Filed under: Robert Wagner, Tiger Woods, Natalie Wood

File this under bad timing ... actor Robert Wagner -- currently the target in the Natalie Wood death probe -- will play a murder suspect on "NCIS" tonight.

In the episode, 81-year-old Wagner -- who plays Michael Weatherly's father on the show -- is arrested after police find him in a car with a dead body in the trunk.

It's pretty ironic -- considering the real-life L.A. County Sheriff's Department just reopened a 30-year-old homicide investigation into the death of Wagner's wife Natalie Wood.

Wagner's not officially a suspect -- but there's no denying ... investigators are definitely looking into the possibility that Wagner was responsible for Wood's death.

Natalie Wood Death Investigation -- Exercise In Futility
Tue, 22 Nov 2011 11:01:49 | Rate news: +0
Filed under: Robert Wagner, Natalie Wood, Celebrity Justice

Sources in the L.A. County District Attorney's Office are scratching their heads over the Natalie Wood death investigation, because they say there's no way the D.A. is going to prosecute Robert Wagner or anyone else.

Although the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. says Robert Wagner is not a suspect, it's pretty clear -- as the last person to see Natalie Wood alive --  he's the target of the probe.

Under California law, even if Wagner accidentally pushed Natalie into the dark water ... the most he could be charged with is involuntary manslaughter.  But here's the problem -- there's a statute of limitations of 3 years for that crime, so prosecutors would have had to file charges 27 years ago.   Ditto voluntary manslaughter, which has a statute of limitations of 3 years.

The only crime for which anyone could be prosecuted is first degree murder, because there's no statute of limitations.   Remember, there are no possible witnesses other than Robert Wagner.  Short of a bizarre confession, D.A. sources say there's no chance of a prosecution.  BTW, there's a 6-year statute of limitations on second degree murder.

As for why the Sheriff is investigating the death ... one D.A. source said, "It's an exercise in futility.  I just don't get it."

Filed under: Robert Wagner, Natalie Wood, Celebrity Justice
Robert Wagner is not a suspect in Natalie Wood's death -- this according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department -- but a spokesperson says they've received new information that was "substantial enough" to reopen the investigation.

Lt. John Corina wouldn't go into detail about the new information during a news conference -- but said it was credible, and that two homicide investigators have been assigned to the case ... 30 years after Natalie's drowning was ruled accidental.

Lt. Corina also wouldn't say if Natalie's body would be exhumed, or if Christopher Walken -- who was on the boat the night of Natalie's death -- would be interviewed.

Lana Wood -- Captain Says Robert Wagner Left Natalie Wood To 'teach Her A Lesson'
Sat, 19 Nov 2011 03:06:48 | Rate news: +0
Filed under: Lana Wood, Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, Celebrity Justice
Lana Wood is telling a chilling story about the night her sister died -- that Robert Wagner knew Natalie Wood was in the water ... but instructed the captain of the yacht to "leave her there, teach her a lesson."

In an interview with TMZ, Lana says Captain Dennis Davern told her several details about Natalie's death ... including that there was a drunken fight between Wagner and Natalie that night in 1981.

Lana claims Wagner -- or RJ, as she calls him -- didn't call her until 2 days after Natalie's death and offered her no explanation, other than ... "it was an accident."

As for the reopening of the investigation, Lana says her sister "deserves the truth" -- and she never bought the official explanation about Natalie and the dinghy ... because she knows her sister was afraid she would die in "dark water."

Christopher Walken -- Not A Suspect In Natalie Wood Death

Filed under: Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, Christopher Walken, Celebrity Justice

Sources familiar with the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. investigation into the death of Natalie Wood tell TMZ ... Christopher Walken is NOT a suspect in Wood's death and he is in no way being investigated for any complicity in the drowning.

We are told, however, that investigators will want to speak with Walken about the events leading up to and following Wood's death.

One source familiar with the investigation says despite Sheriff's officials saying Robert Wagner is not a suspect, he is clearly the person of interest and the primary reason the investigation has been reopened.

Wagner has said through his publicist he welcomes the investigation.

Capt. Dennis Davern told us on TMZ Live ... he drank a lot of scotch and wine in the hours leading up to Natalie's disappearance. What's more ... Davern says Robert Wagner plied him with liquor in the hours after she vanished.  In spite of the heavy drinking, Davern says his memory of the evening is clear.

Take a listen as Davern explains the fighting, the sounds and what Wagner refused to do after Natalie disappeared.

Natalie Wood's Sister Lana Wood -- Robert Wagner Withheld Information
Fri, 18 Nov 2011 11:01:45 | Rate news: +0
Filed under: Natalie Wood, Lana Wood, Celebrity Justice, Robert Wagner, R.I.P.

Lana Wood, Natalie Wood's sister, says she never believed Robert Wagner's version of the events that lead to Natalie's death.

Lana tells TMZ ... she believes Robert wasn't honest with cops when they interviewed him about Natalie's death.

Lana also says she's not buying the story that Natalie was trying to secure a dinghy and fell overboard because she was deathly afraid of water -- to the point she wouldn't even go in her pool.

Lana says Sheriff's detectives have interviewed her about the case and they specifically wanted to know if the relationship between Natalie and Robert was "volatile."

And, Lana says, if someone was responsible for Natalie's death, they should be punished, despite the fact it's 30 years later.
