Rip Torn plans to apply for a form of probation, according to the Associated Press. The actor was taken into custody following an alleged burglary attempt in January. The Emmy winner supposedly broke into a bank in Connecticut while drunk and armed. He claims he thought he had entered his home. Torn, 79 years old, is expected to report to Litchfield Superior Court today to attend a hearing during which he'll request an accelerated rehabilitation, says the AP. The program eradicates the charges upon completion of a probationary period for first-time, nonviolent offenders. It is anticipated that prosecutors will oppose his probation request. Torn's legal counsel claims he has completed an alcohol rehab program and has gotten rid of his weapons.
