Penn Badgley leaves his "Gossip Girl" comfort zone for his new thriller, 'The Stepfather,' but Penn was in his element as his "Gossip Girl" co-stars joined him for the film's NY premiere. The Upper East Side's elite stepped out to support their co-star at Monday night's premiere. Spotted: Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Matthew Settle, Taylor Momsen, and Jessica Szohr. Taylor said, "I've heard so much about ['The Stepfather'] from Penn personally, so I can't wait to see it and support him... Congratulations to Penn." Penn told "The Insider," "I'm really glad they came." He appreciated that they could find time to support his endeavor on the silver screen. Would his "Gossip Girl" character enjoy this movie? He said, "I bet you Dan is a bit too highbrow for thrillers. I bet you he turns his nose down at them, but I love them." Penn promised the film will "draw you in, make you care about the characters." The audience's investment in the characters will "make the thrills more thrilling, the scares scarier." 'The Stepfather' will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday, October 16.

The second season premiere of "Gossip Girl" heads out of New York City to the very posh Hamptons home of Serena van der Woodsen's (Blake Lively) grandmother. The change of locale gives the show a new opportunity to show viewers how the lives of the rich are different from yours and mine. Despite the break from the city for the first episode, season two of "Gossip Girl" will be full of just as many bumps and scandals -- if not more -- than its first year. "There's a lot of juicy stuff in all of our lives," explains Blake, whose character broke up with her boyfriend Dan (Penn Badgley) in the first season finale. "Serena is starting new without a boyfriend and the burden of her past. She becomes a New York City "It" girl and goes back to partying." The "juicy" stuff for Nate (Chace Crawford), who ended his long relationship with Blair when he discovered she had sex with Chuck (Ed Westwick), involves a scandalous affair with a married woman. But is it serious, or just a fling? Tune in to find out when "Gossip Girl" returns to The CW on Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m.
