LOS ANGELES (AP) - Playing America's second president in HBO's ''John Adams'' was quite the hands-on experience for Paul Giamatti. On a break from his governmental duties at his Massachusetts farm, Adams shows his son, John Quincy, the finer points of working with manure - manually.

The actor, who plays United States founding father Adams in the two part historical epic, blames co-star Tom Wilkinson for tempting him to pick up cigarettes again in between takes.
