Def, whose real name is Dante Terrell Smith, was attending the Men's Apparel and Garment Industry Convention (MAGIC) event, when he crossed paths with photographer Volker Corell. The snapper says he didn't know who the hip hopper was and didn't know why Def snatched his camera and whipped it to the ground.
