NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl ... or three ... and last night, he spoke out AGAINST Al Michaels ... saying the Oakland Raiders CAN win a championship during Al Davis' lifetime.

Irvin told TMZ ... it doesn't matter who's running the front office -- insisting the PLAYERS ultimately determine the success of an NFL franchise.

It's great logic in theory ... but Davis is the man who puts the players on the field -- and over the years, he's picked guys like JaMarcus Russell and Andrew Walter.

So, we gotta ask ...

Irvin -- a five-time Pro Bowler -- is one of the most high-profile athletes ever to speak out in favor of gay rights, telling Out Magazine recently that he's on a mission from God to defend homosexuality.

Irvin's reason for speaking out -- his gay older brother Vaughn, who died from stomach cancer in 2006.

Irvin was outside Boa Steakhouse in Hollywood last night ... and told us, "Whoever you should want to be with, that choice is up to you."

Despite her doctor's advice, flu-stricken Lacey Schwimmer crawled out of bed to dance one last time with partner Mark Dacascos on Tuesday's "Dancing with the Stars." After a fierce dance off against Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff, the judges unanimously voted to keep the pop star for another week and bid farewell to the "Iron Chef" star.   Mark said, "I'm really happy that we got to dance one last time...I'm glad that she and I started together and we finished together and we gave it our all." The mixed martial arts master admitted, "I'll miss dancing, but I'll be excited to get back to kicking and punching." Undoubtedly a fan favorite, Michael Irvin is grateful for the viewer's support during his tenure on the show, which has come to an end, saying, "I'm just thankful that at least toward the end we got a chance to improve to show them that…keeping us in made a difference." By conquering his fear of dancing in front of people and "to last until week seven, for me that's the Super Bowl," said the renowned football player. He vowed to continue taking dancing lessons amidst his "happily busy" schedule. Donny Osmond described Michael, saying, "He lit up the room. Every time he walked in, he took command. He's like the coach." Reality TV star Kelly Osbourne agreed. She said, "Michael was like such a team player and being back there, he'd always rally everyone around. Mark was the calming to the storm, so you've lost two key elements to the atmosphere backstage." Kelly and partner Louis Van Amstel were ecstatic to be the first couple spared from meeting their fate on the show. She could not wait to share her excitement with her mom. "I called my mom right away and she picked up the phone and all I could hear was screaming because she was in New York., she was watching it." Appreciative of her supporters, Kelly sincerely said, "Every single vote that someone makes for me is allowing me to fulfill my dream for another week." More dreams will be fulfilled and more hearts will be broken on next week's "Dancing with the Stars" on Monday and Tuesday nights on ABC.

NFL great Michael Irvin and "Iron Chef America" host Mark Dacascos became the next two celebs to get ousted on "Dancing with the Stars"! Michael and his pro partner Anna Demidova were the first duo booted on Tuesday night after receiving the lowest combined total of judges' scores and viewer votes. The former football star thanked his fans and Anna. Then, Mark and Lacey Schwimmer tried to cha cha their way passed Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff's jive in an elimination dance-off. But the judges, despite giving both duos rave reviews, unanimously voted to keep Aaron and Karina around. "It’s certainly much harder than it looks on television," Mark said of the competition. "But the bond you create with the dancers, the other celebs, is pretty special." Also on the results show, rock legend Rod Stewart, singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat, and the Ballas Hough Band performed.

Actress Melissa Joan Hart and snowboarder Louie Vito were both banished from the ballroom on Tuesday night's "DWTS"! Louie and his partner Chelsie Hightower were sent home after getting defeated in a dance-off against retired NFL star Michael Irvin and his partner Anna Demidova.  Vito said afterwards, "This is a lot harder than it looks. Everyday I got out there and danced. I was proud of myself for just getting out there." Meanwhile, Melissa and Mark Ballas got the boot after racking up only 24 points on Monday. She said, "That's the game," admitting, "It's tough. I was hoping to make it one more week." The couples remaining in the competition head back to the studio for another intense week of training as they prepare for Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC.

Chuck Liddell bid farewell to "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday night. Although the former UFC champ says he feels he let his partner down, "it is what it is," he says with a shrug. "I tried hard and did my best." "I've never been accused of being a good dancer," he adds jokingly. The ice packs and ace bandages are quickly replacing the sequins and spandex on "Dancing with the Stars." Read on to find out which stars are succumbing to injury. Based on the judge's scores, Tom DeLay may have two left feet, but the politician also has stress fractures in both of his feet. He told "The Insider" that he pushed through the pain because "It was a great fun dance." He continued, "My father taught me, I was raised in the oil field, and he taught me I could never quit…at anything and I never have." Aaron Carter did not make the situation any easier for Tom on Monday night. Aaron confessed, "I accidentally stepped on his foot backstage, so I felt really bad." The pop star is facing his own aches and pains. He injured his knee in rehearsal earlier in the day on Monday. He told "The Insider," "It hurt and I tried to push through it as much as possible and it might have affected...a couple of different moves." Football star Michael Irvin commends Tom's perseverance, saying, "I thought it was great that he said his dad taught him never to quit. That's a message we all need." Right now, Michael's biggest injury is his broken heart inflicted by the low scores awarded to him by the judges on Monday night. Mya, sitting atop the scoreboard for the second straight week, does not know what the future has in store for her. She told "The Insider," "I feel great getting this far because I don't know what tomorrow brings. It could be an injury, it can be anything...I don't know how my body is going to adjust to so many different things..." In the here and now, she admits her "feet kill...in these heels." One couple will be eliminated from "Dancing with the Stars" on Tuesday night's results show on ABC.
