As a child he had two dogs named Muffin and Ginger. He bought a French Bulldog named Louis in 2005, who appeared on Queer Eye when still a very young puppy.
In 2005, Kyan started training to become a qualified instructor of Kundalini yoga.
He has lived with his partner, publicist and gay rights activist Gregory Durham, since 2004.
