Jonathan was born in Florida and his family moved to Washington state when he was very young. He started pursuing acting at the age of nine when he and his family visited L.A. for a vacation. His brother, Richard Lee Jackson, started acting first and he followed. Soon after, Jonathan landed a Corn Pops commercial. After that, Jonathan received the role of a lifetime: playing Lucas "Lucky" Spencer on the Emmy Award winning soap, General Hospital. Jonathan has been nominated for six Daytime Emmys and has won three of them for his protrayal of Lucky Spencer. Jonathan left "General Hospital" last year to focus on his movie career.
He is a vegetarian. Has a brother, actor-musician Richard Lee Jackson and a sister, Candace Jackson. Sister Candace Jackson used to act and is now a lawyer. Has a band, Scarlet Road, with his brother, father and uncle. Plays guitar. Fences with his brother and used to fence with Taran Noah Smith of "Home Improvement" when they worked on the same ABC lot. He wanted to be a professional baseball player when he was younger. Father is a former fireman who ran for a political position in Washington State. Newsweek magazine claimed that Jonathan was a sureshot for the role of Anakin Skywalker. The role ended up going to his Trapped in a Purple Haze co-star, Hayden Christensen. Jon's father, Ricky Lee, is a dermatologist. His mother, Jeanine, is a homemaker. Graduated high school when he was 16. In 1993 and 1994, Jonathan won the Hollywood Youngstar Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series, also due to his portrayal of Lucky a.k.a. Lukas Lorenzo Spencer Jr. Was named one of the '50 Most Beautiful People in the World' by People Magazine in 1999. He attended the ABC Kids N Teens acting and modeling program. Announced his engagement to former GH co-star Lisa Vultaggio. Changed his band's name to Jono & The Rock (referring to his and his brother's nicknames).
