John Goodman has completed a secret stint in rehab. The 'Monsters, Inc.' star voluntarily spent time in Malibu's Promises Treatment Center - which has also treated stars including Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears - in order to "remain sober for his family."

Goodman said in a statement: "For my family and myself, I voluntarily took the necessary steps to remain sober for the rest of my life."

Former Roseanne star John Goodman is being sued by the bosses of a German film company after allegedly backing out of a movie, in which he was to play the Pope. Goodman reportedly entered into "an oral agreement" to take on the religious role of Pope Sergius in Constantin Film Produktion's upcoming project Pope Joan, according to legal papers filed in Los Angeles.


In a statement to celebrity news Web site TMZ, Goodman's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said: "There were talks about Mr. Goodman participating in the Pope Joan project, although no agreement was ever reached. This is a frivolous lawsuit."
