It may have seemed like a funny bit -- Octomom's kids working at "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last year to help her out with the mortgage -- but TMZ has obtained documents that show the kids really were paid to do the show ... just not very much.

According to the contracts filed with the court ... Nariyah, Caleb, Elijah and Amerah (the four that appeared on the show, see below) were paid $464.00 each for the episode that aired in September 2010.

The docs state that they would each get paid $112.50 for the first two re-runs of the show, and $75 each for airings 3-5.

Octomom recently said she's giving up the home, so it was all for naught.

"Uncle Frank" Potenza -- the silver-haired ex-cop who charmed audiences on his nephew's show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", died early this morning ... reps from the show have confirmed.

Uncle Frank spent 20 years as a New York City police officer -- before eventually becoming a staple on Kimmel's late night show in 2003.

The show released an official statement on Frank's passing -- saying his "kindness and humor" will be missed.

The show has not revealed Frank's cause of death.

Uncle Frank was 77.




10:45 AM: Jimmy tweeted about the situation ... saying, "thank you for your kind words about a very kind man - my Uncle Frank - who passed away this morning."

Charlie Sheen was a guest on Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show on March 1 and the world famous DJ appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Thursday night, giving his plan for how Sheen should move forward amidst his current woes. "We want to put a microphone in your house," Stern said he told Sheen. "Anytime you feel like going on the radio during our radio show, we'll break into our programming and you can have control of the airwaves carte blanche. Go on the air and have "Charlie Radio" 24 hours a day because there's nothing better than that." Sheen and Stern share a common bond and Stern dished on how he used this bond to wrangle Sheen onto his show. Stern disclosed that he instructed his producer Baba Booey to "Tell [Sheen] Howard is a warlock warrior, and that I am prepared to go on the air with him and do battle because I was sued by CBS, as you know, and he's about to sue CBS. And I will commiserate with him and support him and I will be there for him. And sure enough he bought my bull----." In a candid interview with ABC's Andrea Canning that aired Tuesday night on "20/20," Charlie Sheen confirmed that he will hit CBS with a lawsuit for canceling "Two and a Half Men" for the season.
