Blake debuted as an actor with a small part as one of the knights guarding Sean Connery in First Knight. One or two years later, while Blake had his own band, friend Nick Dudman called him on the phone and said: "You know that stuff we did on Fifth Element ?" Blake said yes, and then Allder said "I'm doing Star Wars now, do you want to be in ?" Blake -a Star Wars fan since he saw the first movie on its opening day back in 1977- immediately said yes. A year later he was playing six different characters in "Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace".


Because the cast of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was largely British, he was cast as Mas Amedda in the Senate scenes. Because the Senate scenes in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones were filmed in Australia, he was replaced by Australian actor David Bowers. For Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the original Senate scenes were shot in Australia, but for addition photography, new Senate scenes were written, which were filmed in England. For those scenes, Blake reprised the role.
