NEW YORK (AP) — Prime-time newcomer Jay Leno says he would have rather stayed put at "The Tonight Show" — and if NBC offered him that job again, he'd take it.


NEW YORK (AP) — Prime-time newcomer Jay Leno says he would have rather stayed put at "The Tonight Show" — and if NBC offered him that job again, he'd take it.


First Lady Michelle Obama didn't shy away from questions about her commander-in-chief husband on Friday night's "Jay Leno Show." Asked by Leno what she thinks President Barack Obama's most annoying habit is, Mrs. Obama joked, "We don't have enough time," before continuing, "He has no annoying habits … he's perfect." Then, after reconsidering the question, she said, "When he beats me at tennis, that gets to be pretty annoying, and he beats me quite often." The first lady also disclosed who's on her iPod playlist, naming musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Sting, Robin Thicke and Mary J. Blige.

Kate Gosselin is involved in an intense feud with her estranged husband Jon Gosselin, but that didn’t stop her from making light of her "mommy" image on Wednesday night’s “Jay Leno Show.” In the skit, pretend-photogs mob Kate at her car in a grocery store parking lot. “Seriously, I am exhausted. Leave me alone,” she tells them. “Hey, what did Mommy say? I asked you to stop taking pictures and you continued.” She tells one photog “go to your room,” but after he complains that they’re in a parking lot, she says, “go to your car” and come out “when you’re ready to behave.” She asks another pap, “Will you help Mommy with these groceries?” Finally, she hauls one of the “childish” shutterbugs into her car and drives off. Lest anyone thought the nighttime talkers would follow a code of silence regarding the David Letterman extortion case, Jay Leno had a few jokes in store for his former late-night rival on Friday. "If you came here tonight for sex with a talk show host, you've got the wrong studio," Leno cracked during his monologue. "What is going on? First Conan hit his head, and then somebody tries to extort money from Letterman. I'm so glad I'm out of late night." Robert J. Halderman pleaded not guilty on Friday to allegations that he attempted to extort $2 million from Letterman. The "Late Show" host said on his show Thursday that an individual had attempted to extort him over sexual relationships he'd had with female employees.

AP - Kanye West used Jay Leno's prime-time debut Monday to offer another apology for ruining Taylor Swift's night at the MTV Video Music Awards and to say he's going to take some time off for reflection.
Jay Leno premiered his new television show, "The Jay Leno Show," on NBC on Monday night, and Kanye West appeared, apologizing for the third time for upstaging Taylor Swift last night at the VMAs. "It's been extremely difficult, I'm just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone," West told Leno. "I only wanted to help people, my entire life, I always wanted to give and do something… I immediately knew in this situation that it was wrong… It was actually someone's emotions that I stepped on. I'd like to be able to apologize to her in person," he went on to say. When Jay asked what Kanye's mother Donda, who passed away in November of 2007, would have thought of his behavior, Kanye paused for a very long time, and then answered, "Yeah, obviously I deal with hurt and so many celebrities you know, they never take the time off, I've never really taken time off. … I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt." He added that what he did was wrong and he wasn't going to try to justify it, and also said, "I need to, after this, take some time off and analyze how I'm going to make it through the rest of this life, how I'm going to improve. If there's anything I can do to help Taylor in the future, to help anyone, I'd like to." After speaking with Jay, Kanye took the stage with Jay-Z and Rihanna for a performance of "Run This Town." Others appearing on Jay's first episode included Jerry Seinfeld and Oprah, who chimed in via satellite.
