It's the big secret on the "Dark Knight Rises" set -- a giant armored jet thing spotted careening around the streets of Pittsburgh -- but so far, no one's seen it up close in nerdgasmic detail ... UNTIL NOW.

TMZ obtained the recent pictures of what appear to be Batman's updated Batwing for the new movie -- and if you look closely ... you can even see a Batman dummy through the windshield.

The original Batwing first appeared in Tim Burton's 1989 "Batman" movie -- starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

Sources directly involved in the project say the man who is making it all happen is uber-producer Joe Roth, who produced and owns the screenplay to the 2003 movie, "Anger Management."

We're told Charlie's character will stray a bit from the movie role.  The plan as of now -- Charlie's character will be an ex-jock who got his master's degree in social work during the offseason.  He becomes a counselor to defendants in the criminal justice system with anger management problems.  But, of course, Charlie's character will have anger issues of his own.

We're told the deal with Lionsgate is not done, but is in the final stages of negotiations.  And we're told, there is no deal with a network to air the show -- at least not yet.

Roth has worked with Charlie on 5 projects, including "Major League," "Young Guns" and "Three Musketeers."

Bulger --  a longtime staple on the FBI's Most Wanted List -- had just appeared in U.S. District Court in south Boston, where a judge granted his request to be represented by a public defender.

Bulger has been charged with multiple murder counts, as well as conspiracy to commit murder, extortion, narcotics distribution and money-laundering charges stemming from his role as the leader of Boston's infamous Winter Hill gang.




Bulger had been on the run for 16 years ... before federal agents located the mobster in Santa Monica, CA -- where he had been living a pretty chill life with his girlfriend.

FYI -- Jack Nicholson's character in "The Departed" was allegedly inspired by Bulger's life.

Jack Nicholson has been known for his womanizing and partying ways, but though he once thought he was "irresistible" to women, the 73-year-old says the times have changed. "I'm definitely still wild at heart. But I’ve struck bio-gravity," the renowned actor told London Daily Mail. "I can’t hit on women in public any more. I didn’t decide this; it just doesn’t feel right at my age." The actor expressed some interesting theories on male behavior, telling the publication, "‘If men are honest, everything they do and everywhere they go is for a chance to see women. There were points in my life where I felt oddly irresistible to women. I’m not in that state now and that makes me sad." As for finding love at his age, Nicholson -- who has dated Hollywood stars Anjelica Huston and Lara Flynn Boyle -- is still up for the challenge. "I don’t know if anyone could say I’m successful with affairs of the heart. I don’t know why. I would love that one last real romance. But I’m not very realistic about it happening." He added, "I’ve been in love in my life, but it always starts with obsession that lasts exactly 18 months and then it changes. If I’d known and been prepared for that, I may have been able to orchestrate the whole relationship thing better." In his younger years, Nicholson was considered the life of the party but he assured the Daily Mail that he was in control even when he partied with his friend Keith Richards. "Keith would stay up seven nights in a row. I stayed up late, but I slept in late, too," he recalled. "I've always believed in taking care of myself. There was always a discipline within my partying structure. I’ve never kept a camera waiting, and in all my career I only missed one day of work, on 'The Shining.' I put my back out."
