Previously married to a former model Diane by whom he had a son Titus and a step-daughter Emma and is currently married to Kathryn Holcomb, who was formerly married to the actor Bruce Boxleitner. Was a serious contender for the role of James Bond on several occasions due to his appearances as The Saint. The closest he got, however, was playing a Bond-like character in a series of TV commercials. Replaced Roger Moore as Simon Templar when "The Saint" returned to series TV in the late 70s. He won the TV Times "Most Compulsive Character" award in 1978/1979. Became an Associate Member of RADA. Successful writer of children books.
