"American's Got Talent" honcho Simon Cowell thinks the Parents Television Council has NOTHING to worry about now that Howard Stern is joining the show ... telling TMZ, "If he goes too far, he'll be kicked off."

Cowell just called in to "TMZ Live" ... telling us he thinks Stern is way too smart to cross the line on the show -- "He's not stupid, this guy."

"AGT" judge Howie Mandel also called in ... telling us the PTC is "ignorant" for attacking Stern ... claiming, "It's ridiculous to think that he's bringing the Sirius show to 'America's Got Talent'."

Howie Mandel is experiencing every germaphobe's WORST nightmare -- discovering an intruder was lurking in his home ... and possibly TOUCHED SOMETHING!

Law enforcements sources tell TMZ -- Howie was out of town when a maid discovered an open door in his L.A. area home.

We're told it's unclear if anything was stolen -- but Howie's people filed a police report anyway.

Howie is now conducting an extensive inventory of the home -- to make sure nothing is missing.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops have a few "strong leads" on the case.

For a guy who hates to get dirty, it's pretty hard to believe Howie Mandel just moved his production company into an L.A. office building famous for housing the biggest PORN company on Earth!

But it's true!!! TMZ has learned Howie just took over some office space in the Vivid Entertainment building in L.A. ... right around the corner from Universal Studios.

Vivid honcho Steve Hirsch tells us he's very excited to hang with his new office neighbor -- and personally gave Howie a tour of the building last month.


Hirsch tells us his team is more than happy to do "whatever it takes" to make Howie feel comfortable at the XXX compound ...  adding, "We even painted the walls and replaced the carpet."

We called Howie for -- so far, no response.

Undiscovered talent can audition for "America's Got Talent" from the comfort of their own home. After scouring the country for contestants, the show still has one dozen slots to fill for the primetime television competition. Perhaps inspired by the YouTube success of "Britain's Got Talent" sensation Susan Boyle, the American version of the show is going viral on the video website. Prospective singers, dancers, and variety acts have until June 23 to upload an audition video to AmericasGotTalent's Channel. Talk about a "virtual reality" show. Judges will narrow the field down to 40 qualified applicants by late June or early July. The videos will be posted on the YouTube site for fans to vote. Popular vote will elect one untapped talent to appear on the show and judges will nominate 11 acts. The 12 top online auditionees will join the talent pool from the nationwide auditions for NBC's hit summer show. Paul Telegdy, Executive VP of Alternative Programming at NBC, told the Hollywood Reporter, "'Expect the unexpected' has always been core to the success of 'AGT.' This audacious new twist to the audition process offers our viewers not only a priceless golden ticket to get onto the biggest stage in the country in the middle of the competition, but also the opportunity for a thrilling live show where anything can happen. No other show would dare to take on this challenge." Premiering June 1, Nick Cannon will return as host with Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan, and rookie Howie Mandel assembling as the judging panel.

You’re using valuable time here.” The host joked, “I may soon be available for children’s parties,” and made a pretend peacock shaped balloon with his hand gestures. On a sentimental note, Conan told a story with a punch line: “When I was a little boy, I remember watching the tonight show with Johnny Carson and I remember thinking, ‘One day I’m going to host that show for 7 months.’” NBC plans to have the late-night changes sorted out by the time the Winter Olympics kick off on February 12. Conan interjected, “When NBC says something, you can take that to the bank.” “Deal or No Deal” host and the newly named “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel visited with six stand-in “Deal or No Deal” models for Conan to choose his career options from a numbered briefcase. Some of his options were to join the cast of ‘Twilight’ as a “rare albino werewolf” or move over to Animal Planet and “eat bugs off Andy [Richter]’s belly.” However, enclosed in Case #6, the one he chose at the beginning of the segment, was two tickets to see Jay Leno’s stand-up routine at the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas. With Conan’s announcement that he won’t agree to continue hosting “The Tonight Show” if it is rescheduled for 12:05 a.m., only time will tell what his actual career decision will be.
