Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong wrote the band's first song "Why Do You Want Him?", when he was only 14 (appears on the '1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours' album).

Released their first album '1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours', a compilation album featuring singles from their earlier EPs, "1,000 Hours", "39/ Smooth", and "Slappy", hence the peculiar name. [1990]
