Father, with actress Kathleen Lockhart, of actress June Lockhart. The three appeared together in A Christmas Carol.
Grandfather of actress Anne Lockhart.
Wrote the words to the song "The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise" which became a huge post-WWI hit. Later recorded by Ted Lewis, Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington, a version by Les Paul and Mary Ford became a million seller in 1949.
Taught stage technique at the Juilliard School of Music in between acting jobs in his earlier days.
