Ed McMahon, is reportedly fighting to avoid foreclosure on his Beverly Hills home. The announcer and comedian who worked for decades as Johnny Carson's sidekick for "The Tonight Show" is said to be $644,000 behind on payments for his $4.8 million mortgage after a unit of Countrywide Financial Corp filed a default notice February 28, 2008 with the L.A. County Recorder's Office, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Howard Bragman, his rep said McMahan who is now 85, has been unable to work as a spokesperson for various products since he broke his neck 18 months ago. He explained:

"There are plenty of people affected by the weak economy, bad housing market or bad health."

It's unclear whether the famous TV personality and his wife, Pamela, will be able to remain in their home.

How sad! This is all he needs to be dealing with at his age and after his injury.  It's pretty shocking his house wasn't paid off already though.
