Attended Stella Niagara Education Park Cadet school in Lewiston, NY. He is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the television series St. Elsewhere, for which he received an Emmy nomination during each viewing season. Son of Ed Begley. Involved in enviromental affairs, he was named to Environmental Affairs Commission in 1993, and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy in 1994. He used to appear on a US radio soap called 'Milford Haven' with fiance, Mara Purl. They had their future marriage vows blessed in the town of the same name in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK. Vows that were sadly never completed. Is a vegetarian. He quit his job as the Los Angeles Environmental Commissioner when he realized that he was destroying trees by all the paper the commission was using. Children: Amanda, Nick and Hayden. In 1992, he did an episode or two of the radio drama, "Milford Haven", with his then fiance, Mara Purl. They never married. His home is solar powered and he primarily uses his bike and public transportation. Is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Actors Branch) [2000-] Has appeared in both Batman: The Animated Series and the live-action films--in his case, Batman Forever.
