He said, "I've been in this business since dirt was created, so I've seen a lot of incarnations of this business… And so many people would say, 'Television is the death of radio,' and as history has shown, it isn't, it wasn't and it never will be." 'dancing With The Stars' Champ Donny Osmond The Morning After!
Thu, 26 Nov 2009 03:42:32 | Rate news: +0
So what did Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson do now that they won the disco-ball trophy on "Dancing with the Stars"? They flew to New York to guest on "Good Morning America," where ET caught up with the new dance champs. "I couldn't believe it," Donny says of his win. "I heard [my name] and then just the screams. I pulled my wife out there and Marie, and I let her hold the disco-ball trophy." Donny made no secret during his months on the hit ABC series that his goal was to at least match Marie's third-place finish, if not to surpass her, which he did. Now he jokes, "Expect me to walk across the stage, holding the trophy] during your segment." He is, of course, referring to their Las Vegas show at the Flamingo. Striking a more serious note, Donny says his sister gave him words of encouragement before he hit the "DWTS" stage last night. "Marie said just before I went on, 'You can take this,'" he tells ET. Donny's immediate plans are to return to his Las Vegas show; while Kym will be joining the Broadway production of Burn the Floor. But first, the former teen idol will celebrate Thanksgiving with his family: "I will probably eat a little turkey and fall asleep on the couch," he says. "My wife keeps me out of the kitchen. I burn water, so I am not going to do any cooking." Look for "Dancing with the Stars" to return to ABC in early 2010.

Only one night after the season nine "Dancing with the Stars" finale, Levi Johnston opens up about whether he would join the show. After watching the finale, he tells "The Insider" with his phone in his hand: "I think if my phone were to ring right now, I would probably say yes." He said, "Dancing isn't really my thing but I think I could do it," and also noted, "I mean, I'm pretty athletic so I think I could do just about anything." On what would be the biggest obstacle he'd have to overcome, he said, "Just being able to loosen up enough to dance I think would be my toughest part." He's not completely without experience, however, pointing out that he can "slow dance like no other man." Levi also had words of support for "Dancing" champ Donny Osmond: "I guess I just want to wish him, or say, congratulations. They danced, they did their thing, and they were the best out there, so congratulations!"

Donny Osmond Prevails On 'dancing With The Stars'
Wed, 25 Nov 2009 09:30:04 | Rate news: +0
Confetti rained down on the dance floor in celebration of new "Dancing with the Stars" champion Donny Osmond and partner Kym Johnson. After a long season full of injuries and flu, but also the forging of new friendships and memorable routines, Donny and Kym rose above the other 15 couples. All of the contestants who had been eliminated in earlier rounds laced their shoes back up to perform one last dance. Familiar faces from previous seasons, such as Jeffrey Ross, Adam Carolla, Cloris Leachman, Jerry Springer, Jerry Rice, and Steve Wozniak, also made cameo appearances. Chart-topper Whitney Houston entertained with two songs, "Million Dollar Bill" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." Other highlights from the evening included NFL Hall of Fame inductees Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin duking it out to a Paso Doble with a golden football to earn a coveted mirror ball ring. Len Goodman evaluated, saying, "We've discussed it…you've got to be game ready…and we all think that Michael, you are the winner. However…we decided that the battle of the bodies went to Jerry." Both athletes were presented with a ring. Jeffrey Ross returned to induct a new member to the "Loser's Club." As a result of his elimination in the first round, Ashley Hamilton was bestowed with the honor. Finalists Donny & Kym, Kelly Osbourne & Louis Van Amstel, and Mya & Dmitry Chaplin had one last opportunity to impress the judges by performing an encore routine of their choice. With mom Sharon, dad Ozzy, and brother Jack rooting her on, Kelly and partner Louis took to the dance floor for their Viennese Waltz. Judge Len Goodman sincerely ed, "Of all the celebrities we’ve had on the show, I will miss you the most." Bruno Tonioli recapped, "You may come from rock and roll royalty, but you have earned your place as a ballroom princess." Carrie Ann Inaba came to the revelation that "of all the seasons, I don't know if anyone has ever touched me as much as you have when I watch you dance." The judges awarded their honorable effort with 26 points. Mya and Dmitry jived their way to a score of 28. Bruno referred to her as "Mya the Magnificent. Sharp, slick. You never miss a beat." Calling her a "star," Carrie Ann said, "Every season we have somebody that sets the pace for the whole season…that has been you from day one." Len said she was "without doubt, fantastic." Donny and Kym certainly left a lasting impression, earning a perfect score of 30 for their Argentine Tango. Carrie Ann remembers that throughout the competition, "You've graced us with some incredible show-stopping performances." Len continued with the rave reviews: "What you've never lost is your 100%, coming out here and performing." Ecstatic with his victory, Donny carried his wife from the audience to the dance floor. All the newly crowned champ could utter was, "Oh, yeah!" Mya gracefully accepted her second place finish, saying, "We were so happy to come this far…we had the time of our lives." Kelly responded to her third place finish, saying, "It's been the most beautiful amazing experience…thank you America...It's because of you that I've grown so much."

'dancing With The Stars' Contestants Answer: Is Ballroom Dancing Ageless?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 18:49:14 | Rate news: +0
"Dancing with the Stars'" oldest competitor of the season, Tom DeLay, resigned from the show Tuesday night due to stress fractures in both of his feet. "The Insider"'s Samantha Harris asked the stars and pros if an age limit should be imposed on the show.   Dancers responded with a unanimous, "No." Mark Ballas said, "Dancing has no age." Past "Dancing" competitors have been older than DeLay and avoided injury. Louis Van Amstel recalled, "Priscilla [Presley] was 62. She did it. It was no problem." Anna Trebunskaya posed the question, "Cloris Leachman did it for how many weeks and she was 80-something years old?" Donny Osmond is sad to see DeLay exit the show because, he realized, "I'm now the oldest dancer." He joked, "It doesn't matter. I dance like a 15-year-old." One of the youngest competitors this season, Louis Vito, projected that, "When I'm old, I don't want anyone telling me what to do." He continued, "Age is a number. Who's going to tell you that you're old or young?" Everyone recommended that the show should take precautions to prevent injuries by subjecting the stars to physical exams and choreographing routines to be sympathetic to any conditions they may have. Additional padding can also be added to the shoes to comfort the feet. The stars that remain standing will show off their next dance on Monday's "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC.
