Don Rickles Biography
After the golden era of Hollywood, one man is still living to tell his tales: Don Rickles. One of the most loved and respected talents in entertainment, Rickles got his start in the night clubs. For over 20 years, Rickles did comedy in these night clubs and, in 1958, Don made his film debut in Run Silent Run Deep. The movie was a big hit, and afterwards, Rickles continued acting, starring in films like X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes, Bikini Beach, Enter Laughing, and Don's first REALLY big hit: Kelly's Heroes. In 1973, Don became more associated with Dean Martin, and was one of Dean's most regular performers on his show: 'The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts.' From 1973 to 1984, Don made a lot of appearances on Dean's show, paying tribute to some of his friends, like Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, and was even the roastmaster on the roast for Dean Martin himself. In 1976, Don appeared as C.P.O. Otto Sharkey in the hit TV series C.P.O. Sharkey, which enjoyed a big run until 1978. After 1984, Don took it easy, appearing in some minor roles in films. But in 1995, Don made a big comeback, appearing with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in Toy Story, getting the role of the grouchy Mr. Potato Head. In 1999, he returned as Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story 2.
