As a celebrity, he played on "The $100,000 Pyramid", competing against Patty Duke. Died of a sudden heart attack at a family wedding. He appeared in all seven Police Academy movies. His widow, Kathryn, wrote a stark, one-woman play chronicling her life after his death entitled "Surviving David." There was a history of heart trouble in his family and he died of a heart attack 9 days short of his 51st birthday. His father and grandfather also died of sudden heart attacks at age 51.
