Father of Gavan O'Herlihy, Patricia O'Herlihy and Cormac O'Herlihy.
His first starring role in a TV series was on Schlitz Playhouse of Stars in an episode called, Log The Man Innocent, by Eric Scott.
Father of architect Lorcan O'Herlihy
Earned a degree in architecture from the National University of Ireland. Later, he took minor roles at Dublin's Abbey Theatre. He was spotted there by movie director Carol Reed, who cast him in Odd Man Out (1947).
Member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Actors Branch)
Father-in-law of Vincent Dowling'.
