NEW YORK (AP) - The latest entrant into the TV comedy business is ... CNN? The news network says Wednesday it's starting a Saturday night show with comedian D.L. Hughley.

D.L. Hughley says he will speak at Bernie Mac's memorial on Saturday in Chicago, which will be held at noon at the 10,000-seat House of Hope for fans and friends of the late star. "I hate funerals. I don't like going to church. I feel like Bernie kind of punk'd me on this one," Hughley said during his stand-up comedy this week at the Tempe Improv comedy club in Arizona, USA Today reports via The Arizona Republic. "I thought, like we all do, that things would get better and I'd get around and get to talk to him," he said. "But I didn't, and I didn't get to tell him how much I loved him." Mac died last Saturday at age 50 of complications from pneumonia. Donations in his honor may be sent to the Bernie Mac Foundation for Sarcoidosis, 40 E. 9th St., Suite 601, Chicago, IL 60605, according to his rep.

Hughley hit the stage for a stand-up gig at Hilarities Theatre in Cleveland, "The Insider" caught up with the funnyman for his take on the recent controversy involving Jesse Jackson making rude about Barack Obama. Did D.L. have a strong opinion about the news? You bet! "I think Jesse's gig is to make people victims so he can be the hero," he told "The Inisder." "People are often snide behind people's backs. Any of us can get caught with the microphone on," he added, alluding to Jackson being unaware during a break in a TV interview that his mike was recording him as he bashed the Democratic presidential candidate. Most amusing to comedy king D.L. was that Jackson would issue a public apology for simply getting caught speaking his mind. "I think that the apology was the funniest thing," he said. "Jesse Jackson basically apologized for the microphone being on." "The Insider" also got "CSI: NY" star Hill Harper's thoughts on the controversy! Declaring his respect for Jackson but calling his "unfortunate," Hill said the bottom line is that Obama likely won't let the controversy faze him: "Worrying about what every person says about him is something that I think any candidate, whether it's Barack [or his competitor John McCain], has to shield themselves from."
