On Thursday's "Tonight Show," host Conan O'Brien offered his personal apology to Levi Johnston for "misrepresenting him in any way" in a skit the previous evening -- then, he invited William Shatner back out to recite what Conan called "verified" quotes from the father of Sarah Palin's grandson! At the top of the show, Conan said he'd woken up to “shocking news.” “Apparently the tweets that we read were counterfeit,” he said. “They were written by a clever impostor posing as the witty Levi Johnston. And the real Levi is very angry with us now.” He continued, “I’d like to personally apologize to Levi Johnston and his lawyer and publicist for misrepresenting him in any way.” Then, Conan proceeded to welcome back William Shatner to recite “some real, verified quotes from Levi Johnston” as spoken-word poetry. Earlier Thursday, "The Insider" obtained a statement from Johnston’s rep to Twitter claiming the 19-year-old was being impersonated on the social-networking site. AP - The mayor of New Jersey's largest city has raised the stakes in his facetious feud with "Tonight Show" host Conan O'Brien, saying the late-night comic is now banned from the state.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Conan O'Brien has turned his "Tonight Show" stunt injury into comedy, showing footage of it as a "cautionary tale" for kids.


After sustaining a head injury Friday while performing a "Tonight Show" stunt, Conan O'Brien returned to work Monday night and joked about his accident. "As many of you may know, on this past Friday's show I was doing a stunt and I hit my head and suffered a slight concussion. And I promise, if you're a good audience, I'll do it again tonight," the funnyman said while taping his monologue on Monday. O'Brien, who injured his head when he slipped and fell during a stunt with guest Teri Hatcher, joked about the media attention he received, saying: "So tune in tomorrow when Eva Longoria [Parker] pushes me down an elevator shaft.” He also joked that after his head injury he "actually understood the plot of 'Lost.'" When one of his jokes elicited fewer laughs than he had anticipated, he quipped: "Did I mention I had a concussion?" The talk-show host urged parents to wake up their children and watch the clip of his accident to serve as a "cautionary tale."

AP - Conan O'Brien was expected to be back on the job Monday after hitting his head during a "Tonight Show" stunt.
Actress Teri Hatcher, who was a guest on Friday's canceled episode of the "Tonight Show," speaks out in exclusive interview with "The Insider"'s Lara Spencer about the stunt-gone-wrong that injured Conan O'Brien. Teri tells Lara she recently finished a triathalon, so she and Conan were taping a bit based on that for "The Tonight Show." "We did this bit and at the very end, when we ran in to cross the finish line, he slipped as he was crossing the finish line and hit his head," Teri says. "And the thing was, I was in front of him so I didn't see it initially. "He didn't get off floor right a way, but then he [seemed] like he recovered and [pulled] it together, and they did an instant replay, and you could really see his head hit the floor." She continues, "He did go to hospital and he does have a concussion." Teri adds that she hears Conan is fine and just needs to rest. "I was just a wreck," she says, contuining, "we had a great day and it couldn't have been better -- and then that was the ending to it, and it was awful; you don't want to see anyone get hurt." "The Insider" can confirm that Conan O’Brien was injured while taping a stunt for “The Tonight Show” on Friday. A rep for NBC tells us Conan hit his head doing a stunt. Fortunately, the late-night host was able to laugh about the incident afterward. "Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice," Conan joked. A source tells us the 46-year-old funnyman was examined at a hospital. NBC didn't immediately  on his condition. As a result of the incident, Friday evening’s show wasn’t completed, and a “Tonight Show” re-run aired. NBC has yet to announce plans for next week’s shows.

Reuters - New "Tonight" show host Conan O'Brien got off to a roaring start in his first outing behind the desk vacated by Jay Leno last week after 17 years as America's favorite late night television chat show host.
Last night saw the return of Conan O'Brien, the foremost redheaded Irish talk show host over six feet tall. Armed with a new announcer (old sidekick Andy Richter), two A-list guests (Will Ferrell and Pearl Jam), and a few months to write new material, it was time to hit L.A... sort of.
