Christian Bale has reportedly signed on to star as John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which is the long-awaited fourth installment of the Terminator franchise.

Reports suggest that Bale's role as Connor will lead the rebellion, but the next batch of films will feature a different character at the center of the action.  Bale probably took on a smaller part in the series because he will need to devote more time to the Batman franchise in future years.
