Chris Benoit Biography
Chris Benoit is one of the best wrestlers in the world today, however politics backstage have prevented him from reaching the level he is capable of being at within the industry. Benoit has trained in Stu Hart's "Dungeon". He has wrestled in such places as Canada, the U.S., Japan, Mexico and Germany. Benoit has held the WCW Tag Team title and Television title ( His TV title reign was never acknowledged on t.v.) At his level of experience and natural skill Benoit should be the World Champ and in main events throughout the country. His hometown is in Edmonton, Alberta but he's usually wresting in the States. Benoit is without a doubt one of Canada's finest wrestlers.

Because of how often he defended his WWF Intercontinental Title, Chris Benoit has been called the "fightingest" Interconinental Champion in WWF history.

When he began wrestling, he wrestled as "Dynamite" Chris Benoit, as a tribute to the Kid. He also began using the Diving Headbutt, one of the Kid's trademark moves.
Chris Benoit held the WCW World title for less than a day. Because he left, with three others, he was forced to forfeit the title.
Since then, Benoit has feuded with A-Train, Eddie Guerrero, and A-Train again. He is now on the brink of a big feud with Brock Lesnar, the current WWE Champion, and made him tap out to the Crippler Crossface at Survivor Series 2003, and again on a preceeding SmackDown.
He joined the WWF in January 2000, as a member of the Radicalz with Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko. He became the Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 2000.
He 'won' the WWF Title on two occasions, once at Fully Loaded and once at Unforgiven 2000. However, both times the decision was over-ruled, and he is still yet to win the WWF/E title officially.
In June 2001, he suffered a severe neck injury that kept him out for exactly a year. He returned on a Raw in his hometown of Edmonton, and joined forces with Eddie Guerrero and Ric Flair.
Eddie and Benoit went to SmackDown in late 2002, where Benoit has stayed ever since. He won the Tag Titles with Kurt Angle at No Mercy 2002, and wrestled in a MOTY contender against Angle at Royal Rumble 2003 for the WWE Title.
The second man to enter #1 and win the Royal Rumble (Shawn Michaels was the first), but now holds the record for being in a Rumble match the longest (over 61 minutes, former record holder was Ric Flair with almost one hour, while Shawn Michaels Rumble win was 48:37)

Trained by Stu Hart. Chris Benoit would work all week, then drive 185 miles south, from his Edmonton home, to Calgary, to the Hart House. After 6 months of the grueling training, Benoit made his debut for Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling.

Became known as the Canadian Crippler after breaking the neck of extreme wrestler Terry Brunk a.k.a Sabu while wrestling for ECW.
His last name is pronounced French style.
Played football in high school as defensive end.
Lost a tooth when he was pretending to wrestle with his dog as a kid. The dogs face hit him on the jaw, which knocked the tooth out. He never had a tooth inserted, because he though he would lose it again, when he started his wrestling-career.
In the WCW, he was a member of the last Four Horsemen along with Dean Malenko, Ric Flair, and Steve McMichael.

In the summer of 1995, Benoit received a WWE try out match against Owen Hart in Youngstown, OH, but was not offered a contract.
He made sports entertainment history at the 2005 SummerSlam, when he defeated Orlando Jordan for the US Championship in just 25.5 seconds - the fastest US Championship victory in the celebrated 20 year history of the prestigious title.
