Trivia

Honed his acting ability by performing in plays given by the boys club, which was located near his home, in the lower east side of Manhattan.

Named as a "person of interest" by the FBI looking into illegal copies of recently released films appearing on the Internet. Various studios traced the Internet copies of these films to Caridi, a member of the Academy who was supposed to use them for Oscar screening purposes. Russell William Sprague, 51, was subsequently arrested at his home in Homewood, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, where agents discovered hundreds of Academy screeners, many of them Caridi's, for recent and current movies in a search of his residence. Caridi denied receiving any money for the screeners. Caridi claimed that he thought Sprague was a "film buff" and had no knowledge that Sprague had duplicated the tapes. [January 2004]

Became the first member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to be expelled on Tuesday, Feb. 3 2004, under its new anti-piracy agreement.

Was
Francis Ford Coppola's first choice to play Sonny Corleone in
The Godfather.
