Graduated from racially segregated Dunbar High School in the mid 60s.

Nominated for a Grammy award for his duet with Nancy Wilson called "Forbidden Lover."

Married to Veronica, he had a son Khalil McGhee-Anderson from a previous marriage.

Diagnosed with leukemia in the summer of 2003 while touring in a production of "Jesus Christ Superstar."

At the time of his death, he was in the planning stages of a worldwide tour for "JCS," in which he would star. This tour would reunite several members of the original cast, including Ted Neeley as Jesus; it was slated to open at the Vatican, in the fall of 2004.

Had a twin brother, Charles Edward Anderson, who died of bronchitis at the age of eleven months.

Passed away just four days prior to his 59th birthday.
