Began his professional career as a stand up comic in the Seattle area in the mid '80's, though was acting in Seattle theater since a child. He got his proverbial 'big break' in 1990 as a stand up on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. An HBO special followed as well as a two year deal for his own show at Fox television. While at Fox he wrote and starred in several short films for the TV show The Sunday Comics which led to a starring role in the film Baby's Day Out. Several other movies followed including Little Giants where he played the over zealous father 'Spikes Dad', the presidents secret service agent 'Mitch' in Mars Attacks! and revived the roll of big dumb blond 'Christie' in McHale's Navy.

During the 1995 Superbowl he was in a very popular Miller Lite commercial where he played hard luck quarterback 'Elmer Bruker', the man who was on every winning superbowl team, but never played. In 1996 he replaced Bud the mechanic on the NBC series Wings and in 1999 played bartender Tom Vanderhulst on the short lived CBS series Maggie Winters with Faith Ford.

His more recent work includes Martin Scorsese's The Departed and the Cohen brothers film The Man Who Wasn't There. He lives in New York and has a production company Sky Blue House Productions.


Was a waiter for one day. Winner of the United Cerebal Palsey Stand-up Comics Take a Stand (1988) (TV) (The search for Hollywoods hottest new comic)". Fifth of six children. Purchased many items at the Chasin's restaurant auction including the bar and the Frank Sinatra booth. In 1987 he married comedienne Marj McCoshen. They have five children together; Carlo, Bridgette, Leah and twins, Genevieve and Grace. His name sake, Carlo D'Amico, founded the Seattle based eyeglass company Western Optical. His unit was deployed to Grenada three days after he was discharged from the Army. At the age of three his family moved to Saint-Jovite, Quebec, and he was put in a boarding home where he learned to speak fluent French. He hated the experience so much he refused to speak the language upon his return 18 months later, except to translate for his younger sister, who only spoke French.
