Born at 9:00am-EWT at Beth Moses Hospital, New York

As a child, he was raised in the Williamsburg part of Brooklyn, New York.

Son of Edna Manilow and Harold Pincus.

Still resides in New York City, but has a home in Los Angeles.

Early in his career, he wrote advertising jingles for such clients as State Farm Insurance, McDonalds, Dr. Pepper soda and Stri-Dex anti-acne medicine.

Played the accordion as a child.

"Looks Like We Made It" (written by Richard Kerr and Will Jennings) charted in July 1977 knocking Shaun Cassidy's cover of "Da Doo Ron Ron" from the number one slot in the US.

His first chart-topper "Mandy" (written by Scott English and Richard Kerr) was originally titled "Brandy." The song toppled Elton John's rendition of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" from the number one chart spot in January 1975.

Is a good friend of Donna Summer, who did a successful cover of his 1975 hit "Could it Be Magic".
