Anthony Heald was born Philip Anthony Mair Heald on August 25, 1944 in New Rochelle, New York. He graduated from Massapequa High School on Long Island, New York in 1962, and from Michigan State University in 1971. He currently resides in Ashland, Oregon, where he was a member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival acting company for the 97, 98 and 99 seasons.
Attended Michigan State University in the 60s, where he worked with a street theater group. Resided in Montclair, NJ. Now lives in Seattle. May 28, 1991: Starred in the first production of Terrence McNally's play "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" with Nathan Lane, Christine Baranski, and Swoosie Kurtz. Was twice nominated for Broadway's Tony Award: in 1988, as Best Actor (Featured Role - Musical), for a revival of "Anything Goes;" and in 1995, as Best Actor (Featured Role - Play), for 'Terence McNally 's "Love! Valour! Compassion!".
